Services We Provide Our Clients and Candidates
With all the changes happening in healthcare, the demand for top talent has never been greater. Many healthcare organizations are seeking experienced, credible executives to join their team. The purpose of the Sanford Rose Associates® - Charleston practice is to bring candidates and clients together for the mutual benefit of all. We are committed to providing recruiting services of the highest quality, and in the course of our searches we adhere to high ethical standards and an extremely demanding code of integrity, objectivity and confidentiality.
The Recruiting Process
Most important to a successful recruiting mission is a thorough understanding of the client's operations, the specific requirements of the position to be filled, and the corporate environment and management style into which the new employee will be placed. This two-way sharing of information will identify unique priorities, challenges and opportunities that characterize the company’s search for the right individual. We work hard to present candidates and material in a timely fashion, ensuring that the search process takes no longer than absolutely necessary. At conception, we provide a "timeline draft" to each client, outlining the approximate length of time it will take for us to find the ideal candidate.
The Sanford Rose Associates®- Healthcare IT Practice's recruiting process is conducted through referrals and by contacting people in the work disciplines and businesses where qualified candidates are most likely to be. We do not rely on unsolicited resume flow or blind ads.
The talented individuals we approach are generally not looking for a new position. Most likely, they have not circulated their resumes, nor are they currently reading help-wanted ads. They are the two-thirds of the qualified workforce who are unreachable except through a custom-recruiting approach. They are, however, people who may be interested in an opportunity when it is brought to their attention in a professional and discreet manner.
Clients of The Sanford Rose Associates®- Healthcare IT Practice rely on our knowledge of the healthcare IT industry and occupational disciplines in which we recruit and we use sophisticated computer technology to manage large amounts of information.
Our inquiries are made in strict confidence, and the company is not identified until a candidate expresses definite interest in the position. If we feel there is a fit, we then take steps to recruit the candidate. Back To Top
Evaluating Candidates
Once we have identified potential candidates, we perform in-depth interviews with each candidate to determine if they meet all client requirements. Additionally we will uncover any personal or family issues that would restrict the candidate's ability to join our client. In evaluating potential candidates, The Sanford Rose Associates®- Healthcare IT Practice's consultant will use our Dimensional Search® process and:
- Match the candidate's educational, professional and occupational skills to our client's specific job requirements and needs.
- Confirm that the candidate's past experience and successes will effectively contribute to achieving our client's current and future goals.
- Verify that a candidate's personal style will complement the corporate culture and will mesh well with the hiring manager's personality.
- Evaluate the candidate's long-term potential to take on additional responsibilities beyond the current needs.
The Sanford Rose Associates®- Healthcare IT Practice believes that constant communication is the key to ensuring a successful placement. Therefore, we give regular search updates and evaluations to all interested parties throughout the search process. We present for interview only those individuals who best fit the assignment profile. We will perform preliminary reference checks and education/certification validations, as well as video interviews prior to presenting the candidate. Back To Top
Presenting Candidates
After the interviews we debrief both the client and the candidate, and then follow up to ascertain the candidate's interest, provide additional information and resolve any misunderstandings. We assist in composing and extending the offer and negotiating any changes. When needed, we can also provide relocation assistance and cost-of-living comparisons. Once the offer is extended, we stay in touch with the candidate to resolve remaining issues and facilitate a prompt acceptance and early starting date. Back To Top
Managing Careers
Most of the people we approach are not actively in the job market but are qualified professionals in satisfactory situations, only interested in possible exceptional career opportunities brought to their attention for serious consideration. Effective career management means the exceptional individual will make several timely job changes over the course of their working life. To do that most effectively, we help candidates give careful thought to their professional goals and what they must do in order to achieve them. The candidate, and their family (if appropriate), need to define their values with respect to work and desired quality of life. If we are aware of their qualifications, goals and values, we can approach them with those opportunities that are consistent with those objectives. Back to top
In this era of corporate restructuring and downsizing, anyone can lose a good job with little notice. Therefore it's a good idea to establish an early relationship with The Sanford Rose Associates®- Healthcare IT Practice. If someone should unexpectedly lose their job, we'll be ahead of the game by already knowing the kinds of opportunities that will be attractive to you.
What We Ask of Candidates
Career development is a serious process. If you use an opportunity that The Sanford Rose Associates®- Healthcare IT Practice has presented to you simply to 'shop' or to try to establish your market value, you are doing yourself a disservice and wasting everybody's time. There are less risky and more cost-efficient ways to establish your worth. In exploring a career opportunity with the Sanford Rose Associates®- Healthcare IT Practice, you should keep some important points in mind:
- Be honest with us. Share not only your values and career aspirations, but also any obstacles that might affect your consideration of an opportunity.
- Give us a complete description of your work experience.
- Send requested material promptly.
- If you have concerns, tell us in a timely manner so we can deal with them promptly.
- Listen and respond to our counseling; we know the client and his needs.
- Provide us with solid professional references that are familiar with your work.
- Fulfill your commitments: A call to us right after an interview is an important part of the offer development process.
You may be assured that we will be sensitive to your personal needs for confidentiality as we address your questions and concerns. Our ongoing relationships with our clients often give us continued contact with candidates we place; therefore, we want only to make good matches. Encouraging an inappropriate career move would be contrary to our philosophy and counter-productive to maintaining good client relationships. We will ask for your time only when a genuine opportunity exists. Submit your resume to us at HealthcareIT@sanfordrose.com. Back to top

Video Interviewing
The cost of travel in today’s economy has increased the number of video interviews we do, as it reduces out-of-town travel expenses while still allowing us to meet with potential candidates face-to-face. Video interviews have become an efficient and vital tool for us, our clients and candidates.
We use two types of services to conduct interviews - ooVoo and Skype - and though most new laptops have video capability, if a candidate does not have access to a webcam, we recommend the Logitech Webcam C250 (available at most office supply stores).
There are a few things that a candidate needs to prepare in advance of a video interview:
- Make sure you are familiar with the equipment: check your camera placement, volume and computer settings before the interview is set to start.
- Get a rough draft of the questions from the recruiter if possible. They will not give you specifics, but should be able to give you good idea of what questions will be covered.
- Dress for success. Look the part in your video interview. It is very important that you make an impression with your appearance. Wear what you would if the interview was in person.
- Know your audience in advance. Do as much research about the company and the person conducting the interview that you can. Ask the recruiter for help if you are unable to find out what you need to know online. Try to connect with the person early - but get the small talk out of the way and let them drive the pace.
- Keep your answers on point - most video interviews are scheduled for an hour or so. Don't drag out your answers and stay on topic. Clarify your answers if you have any doubts. Ask how the interview is going.
- Avoid moving around and try to be as natural as possible. Moving around may create audio distortions. Be natural. Maintain eye contact. If you look nervous, it will come across in high definition color to the person on the other end. Just be yourself and relax!
- Thank the person conducting the interview and ask about next steps in the process to let them know you are interested (assuming you are). Back to top
